Model

The IB Diploma Programme course is presented as six academic areas enclosing a central core. It encourages the concurrent study of a broad range of academic areas, through future-ready skills developed through the Programme Core and approaches to teaching and learning, international mindedness

The IB Diploma Programme is built on four foundational and interrelated elements given below, that are central to all IB programmes and demonstrated in the programme model

  1. The IB learner – is at the core of the model and the development of the attributes of the learner profile is central to the standards and practices laid down by IBO for all its programmes. The IB learner profile represents 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools, which are developed through the course of the study. The IB learner attributes which include being inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, principled, open-minded, caring, risk takers, balanced and reflective, are the foundation on which the globally recognised IB programmes rest, and enables the students to becomeresponsible and compassionate global citizens.
  2. Approaches to teaching and learning – which is the foundation of the teaching learning methodology of the IB DP, with both the students and teachers demonstrating skills that are developed through the programme and makes the programme meaningful.
  3. A broad, balanced, conceptual and connected curriculum – which involves study of 6 interconnected subject areas and the Core that enables the holistic development that addresses the intellectual, emotional and physical well-being of students in Grades XI and XII.
  4. International-mindedness – is a key element of the IB DP and the programme prepares students to engage with global issues, find creative solutions, appreciate and respect multicultural communities and work with, and in diverse teams.

IBDP mandates a broad-based curriculum that covers all basic disciplines of study and also includes the Core components of the IB DP Programme which are – Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (ToK) and Creativity Activity and Service (CAS).

The course curriculum framework is presented as six academic areas besides the Core. It encourages the concurrent study of a broad range of academic areas. Students study:
